Come Poland

Blog language

Poland had to wait 25 years for the visit of the Prime Minister of China in our country. It is a long time and a lot has changed in the meantime in both countries. It is worth mentioning that Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao was a member of delegation accompanying Chinese Prime Minister during his visit 25 years ago. The Polish receiving party was totally changed, we can come to conclusion that Chinese political structures are much more stable than ours.

What is the reason for this visit, at this particular time. Some people say, that the Chinese Prime Minister was waiting for the invitation, which he received during the visit of the Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski in China in December last year. Others say that it is the last year of his term and he wanted to see Poland again after 25 years. There are some to indicate Euro 2012 as a magnet  attracting everybody to Poland, although following the declarations of some important European politicians threatening to cancel their Euro 2012 visits to Ukraine,  this magnet does not seem to be that strong.

I think, that one of essential reasons is growing role of Poland in Central Europe. It is to be confirmed by the fact that representatives of other countries from Central Europe were invited to come to Warsaw to participate together in the International Conference,

European Council on Foreign Relations in the reports in the last years was classifying Poland as European country, which is very assertive in relations with China, willing to attract Chinese investments on one hand, but on the other hand willing to protect our local industry and work places. The attitude of Polish politician changes and even for construction projects in which Poland seems to be very strong, the Chinese company COVEC was subcontracted, unfortunately this deal turned out to be a total disaster.

Let’s hope that other deals, especially the biggest Chinese investment in Stalowa Wola Steelworks and of course the direct air connection Beijing Warsaw, will be very successful.
